Barfi is a sweet Pakistani / Indian fudge made with condensed milk and sugar. Here's a recipe for making barfi:
Ingredients:
2 cups full-fat milk powder
1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
1/4 cup ghee (clarified butter)
1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
Chopped nuts (such as almonds, pistachios) for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
1. In a non-stick pan, heat the ghee over low heat.
2. Add the milk powder and sauté it with the ghee for about 5-7 minutes, stirring constantly, until it turns light golden brown and aromatic.
3. Add the condensed milk and cardamom powder to the pan.
4. Cook the mixture over medium-low heat, stirring continuously, until it thickens and starts to leave the sides of the pan (about 10-15 minutes).
5. Remove the pan from the heat and let the mixture cool for a few minutes.
6. Transfer the mixture to a greased plate or tray and spread it evenly using a spatula.
7. Garnish with chopped nuts if desired, pressing them lightly into the mixture.
8. Allow the barfi to cool completely at room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 1-2 hours to set.
9. Once set, cut the barfi into squares or diamond shapes and serve. Enjoy your homemade barfi!
