The axolotl is a species of Mexican mole salamander. It is a weird, funny little animal, which remained gilled and aquatic, because its larvae fail to undergo metamorphosis.
They have a curious ability to regenerate themselves and hence they are often used in research. It can regrow the same limb up to 5 times. Then it stops.
The feathery looking branches that extend from either side of it’s head are its gills.
