A lion usually consumes 9 kg (20 pounds) of meat each day, although some can consume up to 45.4 kg (100 pounds) in one day.
Lionesses sneak away from their pride after a four-month gestation period. They usually give brith to a litter of two to six cubs.
The weight of a new born cub is approx 3 pounds and they have a yellowish-brown coat and distinct spots or stripes. Cubs are kept away from the rest of the pride until they gain enough strength. It may take four to six weeks.
A Lion Pride may consist of 3 to 30 lions, depending on the location and the habitat.
Lions have a lifespan of about 15 years in the wild and up to 30 years in zoos.
Lions are apex predators, which means that they are carnivores. They hunt other animals and also scavange or steal prey from other predators like leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, or wild dogs.
